Providing programming for schools and organizations
Science of Sport provides detailed and engaging curriculum that focuses on the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We do this by taking all the fun and interesting topics about the different sports and make it a hands-on learning experience for the teachers and students. Our goal is to translate the love of each sport into an appreciation, understanding, and passion of the science and mathematics underlying the sport. Through this approach, we aim to empower students who may be underperforming academically by relating core curriculum topics to their athletic strengths, capabilities, and interests. These lessons can be implemented into an after school program or a supplement to classroom activities.
Offerings
From in the classroom to on the field we have plenty of ways to engage with your students
Teacher Workshops
Teacher Workshops allow teachers all across the country to learn the hands-on STEM curriculum and see the program in action. Teachers receive a full STEM curriculum related to the sport, a Science of Sport kit with a value of $500, and professional development credit, all free of cost.
STEM showcases
STEM Showcases allow students to present Science of Sport projects, much like a traditional science fair. Projects are judged and students can win prizes for participating.
After School Programs
Teachers can enhance their school’s STEM clubs by offering a 5 week or 10 week afterschool program. Students have dedicated time to learning all about the STEM behind sports as an extracurricular activity.
Student Camps
Our camps allow students to work both in the classroom and on the field.
STEM Field Trip Days
Field Trip Days give students and teachers the opportunity to experience the program outside of the classroom with the full sports experience. Typically hosted at a team venue, Dr. Ricardo Valerdi starts the day with an education STEM presentation all about Science of Sport concepts followed by rotations of hands-on activities for the students.
Our Sports
We teach STEM through a variety of sports
